Merit has her work cut out for her. Cadogan House has left the protection of the Greenwich Presidium to strike out on their own. She and the other vampires of Cadogan House are working to make sure the transition is smooth and the GP doesn't pull any dirty tricks. But when rogue vampires disappear without a trace, Merit and Ethan know they have to find out who is behind the disappearance before other vampires go missing.

This book is very busy with Merit trying to put out one fire after another. Not only do we have Cadogan House seceding from the GP, and Merit and Ethan investigating the possible murders of two rogue vampires, but Merit is also asked to officially join the Red Guard, a covert group of vampires who try to make sure the House Masters and the GP are on the level at all times. Of course, she knows things will not go well between her and Ethan if he finds out she is now a member of the Red Guard.

The seventh book in the series is well plotted. I was afraid that Ethan would find out about Merit joining the RG and once again decide to break up with her. Luckily, that didn't happen. The mystery of the missing rogues is entertaining and kept me interested. But my favorite part of the book was figuring out what the GP had up their sleeves. The story of Cadogan House going rogue should be interesting going forward. My rating: 5 Stars.
