This was a very easy read and as the title says, it is a nice companion book. It introduced me to women that I hadn't heard of before, other than Dale Evans and Annie Oakley. It is also filled with little bits of information on some of the pages - sidebars, so to speak, which in some ways I found distracting from my reading. Also included are poems from some Cowgirls. I was left wanting to know more about the women themselves from the past & present who are considered cowgirls, rather than what kind of home they might chose to live in.
All in all though, it was a good book to read and was written well enough to keep my attention throughout the whole book. :-)
