I give this one 3.5 stars. This is the third in Lynsay Sands Argeneau Vampire series. Like the previous books, it is a light fast read.

Lucern is a six hundred-year-old vampire who has taken to recounting the love stories of his family members. Those stories end up being published as paranormal romance and are much loved by fans everywhere. But then Luc's editor Kate decides that Luc needs to pay more attention to his fans--perhaps attend a publicity event or two. Sparks fly between the two as Kate attempts to convince the surly man to lighten up. At the same time Luc's allergy to sunlight and unusual sleeping schedule begin to make Kate suspicious that he may in fact be a vampire.

I can't actually claim that this book is laugh-out-loud funny, but it is extremely amusing at times. Luc is a decently written character with both anti-social and very sweet sides. I liked that the plot involved attending a romance convention and commented on romance as a genre a lot--self refrencing humor that worked well.

What I didn't like was that the situational humor seemed forced at times--like the author was trying just a bit too hard. And while the romance was steamy, it was never spectacular or touching. The main flaw though is that the heroine was completely stupid. I realize that her cluelessness was supposed to be part of the comedy, but after awhile it was just annoying.

This series is fairly good light paranormal. I recommend it if you're looking for a laugh.
