Nothing drives me crazy faster than hopscotching between the past/present because for me it only interrupts the flow of a story. However, if you feel the same, I urge you to hang in there because not only does that back and forth end after only a few rounds (irritating but doable), you'll not want to miss the emotional, tear-jerking rewards of Finn and Lavinia's reunion and subsequent romance as battered-by-life, matured adults. We also get insight into baby farming, the reasons and wherefores, which adds interesting depth to the plot since this speaks to the Trewlove siblings' origins. Good read. 4 stars.
