I'd never heard of the series when I found this paperback in the grocery store while looking for something light to help pass the time while doing laundry. I loved Bella from the start. What female can't identify with a "clumsy outsider" ~ isn't that how every 17 year old girl feels? But I wasn't overwhelmed by the writing and even though I was moderately curious to see how the author was going to overcome the seemingly impossible challenges she'd created for herself in this love-story between a human and the immortal vampire who refuses to change her; I didn't feel the need to run out and get the rest of the series. Maybe, I'm just too old, I thought.
Then I took my daughter to see the movie.
Which made me pick the book back up and read it again. The second time through, the obsession took hold. I re-read Twilight, raced through New Moon, devoured Eclipse and in 2 days gobbled up Breaking Dawn. I love them. Great literature? Heck no! But they are exciting, compelling, and fun stories where you will, by turns, like, hate, identify with, and want to strangle each of the main characters. Now if only Stephanie Meyer could be prevailed upon to finish Midnight Sun!
