This book was interesting and may have a basis in fact. However, there is a great deal of information missing - such as the fact that the sea level was much different in the past 15,000 years than today. For example, where the English Channel exists today was dry land as recently as 8,000 years ago.

The northern ice sheets still existed 15,000 years ago and because of that the sea level was between 300 to 400 feet lower than today. Land now beneath sea level existed as islands all across the northern Atlantic Ocean. The weight of the ice sheets also caused the land underneath to be 'squeezed', depressed by the great overlying weight of the ice, resulting in the surrounding areas to bulge outward. Hence today southern England is still subsiding.

The collapse and melting of the ice sheets between 15,000 and 8,000 years ago resulting in massive floods around the world. No one knows how many cultures/civilizations may have disappeared under the rising waters.
