What makes a good shark book? To me, it isn't really the quality of the writing. Sure, you don't want writing so poor that it is noticeable and gets in the way of the story. But it is the story that I want, not great literature. "Hunger" is pretty good. The writing is OK and it's a creative story and has lots of good shark attacks. In fact, the writing is probably better than that in Steve Alten's "Meg" books.
