I am pretty much speechless right now; and am virtually only to able say one word regarding this book:
I truly enjoyed Angelfall; it was a thrilling, fast paced story.

Set in my hometown - suburban San Fransisco - Angelfall takes place 6 weeks after angels destroy human civilization. (For, might I add, no apparent reason). Our protagonist, 17-year-old Penryn, is devastated after watching the angels capture her helpless younger sister Paige. With an attempt to save her sister, she makes a deal with an injured, wingless angel.
Against the trend, there is no romance between this drop-dead handsome angel - Raffe - and Peryn. Yet.
The characters are also great! I felt emotionally connected to each and every one of the characters. Penryn, our protagonist (who just so happens to be named after an exit off of California's Interstate 80), is truly realistic, butt-kicking main character! She's amazing!
The character's relationships are awesome as well! I love the relationship between Penryn and Raffe - friendship, but not romance. Finally! (A sci-fi without romance!)

The plot is unique! I haven't read anything quite like it; it's great, amazingly complex. The summary of Angelfall makes it sound so average; so unimpressive. But I began hearing rave reviews about it and decided to give it a try. And let me assure you that the plot of Angelfall is far from average!
The writing is beautiful; especially the dialogue. Susan Ee has a gift for writing; it's truly beautiful. I also love all the plot twists! They befuddle my mind! You'll especially never see the ending coming! The dialogue is so witty; I love it as well! I could quote it all day!
My friends call me Wrath, says Raffe. My enemies call me Please Have Mercy. Whats your name, soldier boy?
The author gets a gold star for doing her research! Ee evidently does a lot of research on angels and post-apocalyptic worlds, and it's truly paid off! She has created a disturbing world with realistic angels.

All in all, I'd highly recommend Angelfall to everyone who loves science fiction and beautifully written books. Angelfall is one of the few rare books that I believe everybody should read at least once.
