This doorstopper 4th volume in the Harry Potter series truly flung Harry Potter mania into all corners of our world, and for obvious reason: as a fantasy, the book is unbeatable in its depictions of wondrous new magical people, creatures, objects, and locations; as an adventure, the book takes readers from place to place, and even time to time, with effortless appeal; and as a dramatic continuation of an epic series, "Goblet of Fire" serves as a heartstopping switcharound for the series as a whole, as the danger in Harry's hidden Wizarding world is taken into unprecedented territory. Now in his fourth of seven years at Hogwarts, Harry Potter is pitted against international witches and wizards in a creatively original competition of magic, while also dealing with his growing feelings for female classmates and expanding his familial relationship with his friends Ron and Hermione. Even darker than Book 3, this volume finally sees the emergence of Harry's ultimate nemesis, the evil Lord Voldemort who destroyed Harry's own parents, and the author's usual twists and turns are as delightful and shocking as ever before, but now with an added weight - this book isn't as standalone as those before, so the darkness Harry encounters has overreaching effects in future installments. A fabulous book!
