I became interested in this book because of the title and to be honest must have not read much of the summary because it is completely opposite of what I expected. I was sort of expecting some humorous medical stories (which as a nurse I thoroughly enjoy) however it's moving, inspiring and and will most likely bring about a bit of self examination.

It is an excellent book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the whole book (there are some humorous stories in it). I really wish I had read this book prior to becoming a parent and prior to my fathers death, I would have done some things much differently. One of my favorite parts was the author's comments where he said there is probably a fast track to hell for children who have a feeding tube placed in a parent who has dementia and is no longer eating. I had my son read that section.

Another great aspect that shows up in many parts of the book is his attitude about parenting. He obviously is devoted to his children and it shows up in many different parts of the book. It is refreshing to have a doctor speak about his relationships outside of work and how he relates to them. Overall, a great read.
