This was a wonderful book. Original storyline and powerfully written. It's about life in the circus during the Depression and about growing old. The main character, Jacob, ran out of money while in veterinary school so was never able to sit for his finals and become a vet. He joined the circus and took care of the animals. He learns quickly that the circus is not the place you dream of when you consider running away to join it.
