This is a tough read unless you are a fan of the authoress. She is very wordy and overly descriptive...eg. at the very end she describes the protagonist as using the "polish" teapot and "Vallauris pottery breakfast cup"even though that has no impact on anything.
The story is about 3 siblings, Stephanie, Marcus and Fredericka. Stepahine is married to Daniel, a member of the clergy. Marcus has mental problems and Fredericka wins a scholarship to study at Cambridge, something her sister Stephanie had done 5 yrs. earlier. Each character is given their own mini-plot, which share the same time line, but little else.
If you are into English mores, polotic, people and especially literature you will probably love this book.I found it stuffy and at times dreary.
