This book about Dageus develops the character in more depth. Karen Moning shows an ability to go deeper with Dageus than other characters in her stories. Also there is a greater exposure of the father and his new bride, Silvan and Nell. I would like to a story based upon them, simply because they are already in relationship with history and more mature with a different perspective- faced with raising 2 boys Silvan has opportunity to teach the Druid ways and Karen has the opportunity to share a richer story that doesn't end with the usual stop gap of romance novels. Dageus holds more depth and consideration due his characteristics that I found refreshing. Of the series this was my favorite by far.
