I discovered this book in the wonderful FB group Books of Horror. If you are a fan of horror and are on FB check them out! The group is currently running the Indie Brawl 2023. Fun! This author's debut is the 3rd book I have read that's included in this brawl (the other 2 being Stolen Tongues and Ghostland) and I think this one was the most fun. It's a clever, clever idea. In the beginning I felt like I was sitting around the campfire listening to a creepy ghost story. Then the action ramps up and there is no escape. Some of the scariest ghosts I have encountered in literature or screen. Unique entities, a ghastly island history, creepy places and encounters in the dark, a twist or two I didn't see coming and an eerie ending. Scary fun indeed!
