The cover of this novel is lovely, but appears to be romance, it is not. Blurb is limited, there is far more to this novel than it appears. Story is based soon after WWII and present time. A woman comes to Canada under someone else's name. This was relatively common for various reasons. This book follows her daughter in present time, wondering why and just who is her mother. It also goes back to just after the war, when she arrives in Canada to marry under the other woman's name. This is a view on wartime which I have not read about before, interesting, thoughtful, good characterization.
