In the early morning of 7/4/54, Dr. Sam Sheppard's pregnant wife, Marilyn, was savagely slain in the family home. This book FINALY gave me what became of her 7 yr. old son who was in the next room asleep and her husband who tried to save her when she screamed for help. There were so many he-did-it, she-did-it, they-did-it rumors...I gave up. This is written by an investigator and the SON Sam Reese Sheppard. Made me take a second look at the work I do at Crime Victim's Counsel (how little I do really makes a BIG difference) and death row legislature. If this can happen to the white middle class who can afford good lawyers and investigators, image how worse it is for minorities and poor? Justice is blind for sure. Great read. Could not put it down. More suspenseful than the movie and entire series "The Fugitive" on which this story is alledge to be based on.
