I have read several of Krakauer's books and enjoy his writing style. (Although I do have to have a dictionary handy most of the time.) In Under the Banner of Heaven I felt that he was reasonably unbiased in his description of the early days of Mormonism. It isn't easy to be ambivilant about this religion, especially the break-off Fundamentalists. The story is, of course, a true one and can be hard to read because of the violence to a woman and child. And the descriptions of polygamy are heavy to absorb.
