If you read the synopsis on the back of the book it leads you to believe the story is about a psycho killer who escapes from the mental hospital to go after others who he believes are devil's spawn. Our female hero is prego by her "soon-to-be" ex-husband (however, the book itself says they are already divorced) when she meets our male hero, who is a reporter for a local newspaper who is investigating a cult of women who live isolated in the country. The synopsis' paragraph titles read "IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED," "KILL...," 'THEN KILL AGAIN...," which leads you to believe the story is a murder-oriented book and how he's caught. Well, it is and it isn't. The escaped killer and his psychoses and additional murdering is more of a second-tier story; whereas the budding romance between Laura and Harrison is the main story. In addition, when the narrator of the audio book speaks the lines of the killer, it makes me want to kill her myself. So extremely annoying!

If I had known this was a romance novel, I wouldn't have wasted nine hours of my life on this drivel.
