Kendra Michaels was blind for the first 20 years of her life where all of her other senses took over to almost superhuman strength. After a miracle surgery gave her sight, Kendra has still retained her exceptional hearing, smell, and tactile observations and has even helped the FBI solve some difficult cases; however, because she also walks around with a huge chip on her shoulder and an attitude to match, she is not well liked or respected by the FBIin fact, they cant stand her. Nevertheless, Adam Lynch, a former FBI agent who now works for a different agency, wants Kendras skills to help on a case. Because Kendras former lover (who is also an FBI agent) comes up missing, she agrees to help Adam.

I so want to like this book, and in fact, when I remove Kendra from the story, I actually DO like the story; however, Iris and Roy Johansen have seriously made Kendra out to be someone Id either punch in the face or run a mile to get away from. Bottom line, shes a mean and hateful person, although they try to cloak her as being a strong, independent woman doing good by helping children as a music therapist. But seriously, one can be independent and strong without being ugly, always negative, and disrespectful to everyone you meet. And her ego is out of this world! For being only 27 years old, Kendra has done it all, seen it all, knows it all, and isnt afraid to let you know it either, by God! Even when proven wrong, youd think shed eat a little humble pie, but not the heroine of this novel. It was all I could do to stomach listening to the book to the very end. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
