This is a 115 page novella with occasional illustrations about a young lady named Iris. Iris lives in a gothic old mansion with her brothers, mother, and super religious grandfather. The groundskeeper warns her about several superstitions about the family tomb contained on the property and about people who have made pacts with the dead or who speak with the dead. One day a chance accident brings death to her family and Iris makes a decision that will affect her forever. I enjoyed reading this, though I really wanted it to be a much longer novel-length book. I think the story idea is marvelous and would make for a really interesting longer piece. As it is, I read it in less than a day.
