A young woman, widowed, with a 4-year-old daughter and her 18-year-old sister-in-law, move to a small town to start their lives over again. The sister-in-law, Candy, has a family that puts the "fun" in dysfunctional; the widow, Honor, is dealing with her loss and how to raise her dragon-fearing daughter. They're noticed by a neighbor, Grayson Sinclair, who's a prosecuting attorney and who's also deeply attracted to Honor.

However, shortly after the move, Honor is stalked by an unknown person. The revelation of who the stalker is provides the book's great plot twist and conclusion. There's a character who's a red herring as well, and the plot moves along predictably and speedily. Honor's explaining to her daughter how expansive God's love is provides a touching scene.
