LONG STRETCH OF LONESOME (Lorraine Heath) This is my favorite of the 4 stories. Gunslinger Chance Wilder has been hired to kill the new owner of a small patch of land. On the way, he is hired by a child to save his sister from brutal men.

Although injured while freeing Lillian from the thugs, she is horrified by his line of work. This story shows the not-so-glamorous side of being a gun fighter. He lives a solitary life; most people are afraid or are scornful of a gunslinger. He will die young, usually at the hands of someone younger, hoping to make a name for himself. The real weakness of this story is its length; there just isnt enough room to explain motivations and changes brought about by actions in the story.

In 2014, the author reworked this into a novella called, THE GUNSLINGER.

BEST LAID PLANS (Evelyn Crowe) Lawyer Kathleen Calhoun, while trying to prosecute the young man who caused the death of Cole Jacksons brother, became involved with Cole. Suddenly, her evidence disappeared and she lost the case.

Cole decided that she betrayed him. Kathleen is back on his home turf, trying to prove to him that she had nothing to do with the disruption of the case. Unfortunately, this city slicker has to follow him around on a horse, while trying to explain what happened.

SWEETHEART OF THE RODEO (Vivian Vaughan) This story isnt even worth describing.

A TEMPTING OFFER (Eileen Wilks) Tucker Evans is back permanently from the rodeo circuit, ready to marry his latest bimbo. Sammie, just one of the boys, is heartbroken and wants him to notice her. Yada-yada-yada. Boring.
