I was incredibly disappointed in this book. From all the hype when the movie came out, I had an idea what the book was about but I expected it to be more compelling and emotional. I found it to be lacking in character development and I hated the abrupt ending. Reading a book that is so focused on music, without being able to hear that music, left the story feeling really hollow to me. When I watched the movie, it was a completely different experience because of the music and it's one of the rare times in my life where I feel the movie was MUCH better than the book. I would recommend skipping the book and watching the film, as to save your precious reading time for books that are more deserving.
