When I purchased this book I couldn't wait to get started. I mean who wouldn't when the hero is in love with the heroine but because of an accidental murder of heroine's fiance' by the hero five years before the book started. It had everything I looked for in a book, passion, emotion, forbidden love...juicy fun!

Matthew, the new earl of Blackburn was ruined because of said scandal protecting Janette Selby from the gossips. He is impoverish having acquired debts from his father and brother's poor financial decisions and excessive gambling. He needs a heiress with an impeccable reputation to get him back into society's good graces. So, ignoring the promise of never seeking her out, Matthew goes to find Janette and basically blackmail's her into finding him a respectable RICH wife.

The writing, to me, seemed amaturish and the chemistry wasn't there. Janette and Matthew should have sizzled and popped right off the page but instead we were forced fed how much they lust after each other. There is a twist about John's death but nothing that made the book interesting. I kinda figured it out and was disappointed really. I can't recommend this book but I what I do recommend that if you're gonna read it....don't buy!
