This book was so heart wrenching but at the same time so uplifting and inspirational! I hadn't heard about Irena Sendler until recently and apparently, I wasn't alone. She was instrumental in saving about 2500 Jewish children from the holocaust. After the war was over and Stalin's communists took over Poland, no one talked much about what had gone on before (for fear of repercussions) so she remained unknown. 3 high school girls from Kansas decided to use her as their History Day Project and it was an instant success. They were requested to perform all over the country and they finally had a chance (on a few occasions) to meet with Irena.

This book covers how and why the girls chose this subject . It goes into Irena's life and the risks she took and then it goes into the aftermath of this project. For me, it was a page turner and I enjoyed every line in this book! A definite 5 stars! Everyone should read this.
