After an accident as a teenager, Leila could not touch anyone without discharging electricity that nearly killed them. Another side-effect is her ability to touch an item and see a person's past, present and future. This ability gets Leila kidnapped by a group of Vampires who need her to use her gift to tell them where the famous vampire, Vlad Tepesh, is located. Not only does Leila use her mind to find Vlad at his home in Romania, she contacts him and asks for help. Leila is rescued and taken by Vlad to his home in Romania. He needs her help in figuring out who wants him dead. He is also drawn to Leila and would not mind her staying with him in the future.
When Vlad was introduced in Frost's Night Huntress series, we knew he would eventually get his own book. This book does not disappoint. Vlad is a powerful master vampire who cares for his people. I loved his humor and his relationship with Leila. Leila has finally found a man she can touch without electrocuting him. Together they make the pages sizzle.
The story is action-packed and moves quickly. I liked the discovery of who was wanted Vlad dead. I thought he was a worthy adversary. My only problem was I felt the book ended a little abruptly. I hope to continue with the next book soon to see what happens next. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
