In depth look at the conditions and events of K company, 1st Marines Division-3rd Battalion, 5th Marines in the Pacific Theater of WW II. The battles of Peleliu and Okinawa sometimes get overshadowed by Iwo Jima and Okinawa but reading this account goes to show that all the island fighting in the Pacific was hell. HBO used the accounts of the author in the miniseries "The Pacific". Great book.
