David Gemmell is a superb author with great charactors and this particular series of Waylander is one of his best in my opinion; when Waylander's family is murdered, he in turn becomes very dark & an assassin; the very best; however his encounter when he rescues a priest from torture changes both of their lives; he has several books in Waylander's life & "hero in the shadows" is the last; just superb story teller.
