miss the original Alex Cross books. This was nowhere near a regular Cross book. I always look forward to the Cross books because they're the only ones Patterson writes by himself and they were pretty consistent over the years. I had a hard time following this book because it seemed like we really weren't learning anything beneficial (to the 'whodunit' part of the plot) from most of the text. Alex wasn't himself, the bad guys were pretty obvious and it felt like this was more about politics than a good mystery.
