I am neither a huge comic book nerd nor a novice. I can recognize that the Avengers and Iron Man are in this book, the significance of the crossover and... not care. I'm not into superhero comics - and this is one.
I am a Gaiman fan, and his writing can *usually* at least make the universe interesting (as he did with Black Orchid.) The mythology presented was rich enough that "the dream king" should have done more with the history.
So yeah, it's superhero pap.

A retelling of a 1970s Jack Kirby title.
I didn't like it.

So if you're reading it because it's Neil, skip it. It's flat.
Even the art is... pulpy and traditional.
I judge my artists by what they bring to the page: How long do I have to stare at a panel to absorb it? Do I have to look back to see if I missed some beautiful story subtitles? (Hellboy art is full of foreshadowing) Does it strike me as beautiful even without the words-is something going on? Is it ART?

Bit snobbish in my review, but I don't see any others up here. Just want to inform casual readers what to expect.
