This book is like a guidebook you might wish you'd had throughout life. It answers questions with the same information you might get if you asked a panel, or a room full, of people who had pretty normal parents, how to handle this or that in your life. It's full of little true-to-life vignettes and offers the types of suggestions a good life coach or therapist would offer to help you become functional in each of them:
A co-dependent friend is depleting you or you suspect you are being used somehow, but they're hard to confront or you don't know where your boundaries should be...
Various kinds of power struggles at work and in relationships...
Caring without being co-dependent, what *is* a healthy friendship, what *is* a functional family...
"My kids don't help around the house" and what to expect from your teenagers...
Issues that come up around the holidays and spending time with an abusive or dysfunctional family or family member...
...and just how to take care of yourself in the mix of people & personalities you encounter in the world.
