I bought this book because I secretly enjoy reading People. I feel dirty about it, but feel that I am not alone in this secret indulgence. The author includes plenty of details about Britney, Miley, etc., but puts their stories in the larger context of how historically men and women are treated and thought of differently. She does this by opening with the tales of modern day Trainwrecks to get you reading, but then goes on to talk about women who history has treated kindly, but were regarded as Trainwrecks at the time.
This was an engaging and thought-provoking read, which I kind of regret reading because now I can't enjoy my Us Weekly.
