I enjoyed the Mageverse universe Knight created but the stories were getting old. So this one was a nice change. I love how sweet Smoke and Eva were with each other. The story wasn't centered on how they didn't want to fall in love but how they were going to stay safe. Lots of steamy love scenes though since they don't have to fight each other. I really like Eva who was smart, gutsy and tough even though she had to learn to fight. I usually hate lost memory plots but this one wasn't annoying because Smoke started regaining his memory rather quickly. I think it helped that he was quite accepting and not whining about it every second.

There was a nice set up for Bella and Tristan story. I would love it if Knight expanded on Miranda, a runaway dire wolf who can work magic and daughter of the baddie.

It's been a while since I've read Knight so I didn't remember things in the Dire kind being so sexist.

Overall, a fun quick read.
