An interesting book written on a young adult level. First in the series. People from 2336 have been given a technology boost that allows time and space travel from the Gift Givers, the first aliens that they came into contact with. There is a catch; only kids can travel very far through the teleports. Now the people of 2336 are meeting kids from other alien races and don't know how to cope. They reach back into different parts of the past for kids with "grit" who can help them.
