Satoru, a Japanese man in Japan has lost his parents and his first pet Hachi. He meets a cat named Nana (a male) and falls in love . Three times he journeys to see his friends and tries to give Nana away and fails.Nana makes sure the people and their pets do not like him so that he does not have to leave Satoru. The last place they journey to is to Aunt Noriko's whom raised Satoru when his parents died. Nana is a true friend until the end. This book I did not feel was sad but I remember feeling some of these feelings when I have experienced close friends and families deaths.
