I am not a foodie, I did enjoy this book. 4 stars. Some of the photos would be a great diet aid cause they will put you off your feed, yes ruin your appetite. I also found the book to repetitious: WORDS like "it is fried up with onions, garlic" or whatever. Then there were times when the description of the way a food was prepared and eaten seemed extremely interesting. So dont give up if you get bored with one section or description, another section might be bright new information. I loved to read about the protein and nutritional content of these food alternatives and how they compare to the main animals we ingest: beef, pork and chicken.
The author was brave and has tried most of the foods in this book. In fact given the chance I might try about 75% of the food described. I draw the line at certain things. Some of the food I will never be able to get my hands on, cause they are so rare or expensive.
This book was not a fast read. Take your time and travel the dinner tables around the world.
