Hated this book!!! The only reason I give it one star is because the web page won't accept my review without it. Phury was cheated out of a story! I have loved the BDB since Bk One. I fell in love with Phury from the first book. Waited and waited for his story, and I was so disappointed and disgusted that, before I even finished - and I and to force myself to finish the thing - I wanted my $7.99 back.
This book was all about all the side stories and other plot lines going on in the series. There was so much BS in this book that did not need to be there (case in point: Rhev's visit with his blackmailer and the subsequent sex - that was disgusting and irrelevant to the story this book was suppose to be).
There was no "falling in love". Meaning, I saw no progression of feelings between what were supposed to be the main characters. I did not like Cormia at all and felt no chemistry between the two of them whatsoever.
In the companion Ms. Ward states that while V's book was very difficult to write, Phury's was a breeze. I can believe it; Phury's was all about building her BDB world.
I felt like she finished the book and went "Oops, I forgot about Phury and Cormia" and then she just stuck in a few snippets here and there.
Was so disappointed, I did not even care about the next book.
