This is a great book of true war stories about World War 1 and 2, and the Wars since then Korean, Vietnam, Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan.. For me, the most touching was about the Battan Death March. The Catholic Chaplain Cummings was a man of God.He always told the men to turn to God and he prayed with them daily. He would say, "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13. He prayed every day.Although only one one hundredth made it back to the ocean In the Philippines Chaplain Cummings among them by witness of his faith many believed in God and Got through that horrible time. No cruelty was spared by the evil Japanese. But Chaplain Cummings gave these men a hope in a higher power That carried Chaplain Cummings and These men through.
