I first read this book as a high school student in the 1950's and never forgot it. When I came across a copy of it recently I was very drawn to it and knew I would enjoy reading it again all these years later. It is a fascinating look at medieval Norway and the details and notes reflect the enormous amount of research which went into the writing. Aside from the historical significance, Kristin is a character readers will find themselves attracted to as the book details her growing up years. I am intent on reading the rest of the books written about Kristin's life.
