Land of Love and Drowning: A Novel by Tiphanie Yanique weaves a story of two sisters Eeona and Anette against a background of the history and legends of the Virgin Islands. The central theme of this book are unpalatable and disturbing. The writing, in contrast, in lyrical and beautiful. Together, they make for a book that kept me engaged from beginning to end.
