After drugging her son and forcing him to accompany her to Spindle Cove, the Duchess of Halford demands that Griffin do his duty and choose a bride from the ladies at the Bull and Blossom...someone his mother can train to be the next Duchess. Deciding to teach his mother a lesson, Griffin selects Pauline Simms, a poor serving girl who will never make an acceptable wife for a Duke. Griff makes a deal with Pauline. He will give her one thousand pounds for a week of training, as long as she is a miserable failure. To Pauline, the money is a fortune she can't pass up. But what happens when she feels guilty about tricking Griff's mother?...or when she isn't a complete failure?...or when she falls in love with Griff?
I pulled an all-nighter with this book because I couldn't put it down. Tessa Dare has written a wonderful story with vivid characters. I loved both Pauline and Griff, and felt they were perfect for each other. I also liked Griff's mother and the many ways she would try to manipulate Griff and Pauline into situations that put them together. This is the last book in the Spindle Cove series. I hate to see this series end. My rating: 5 Stars.
