This is one of those books that straddles the line between YA and adult. I quite enjoyed it as it veered into the more adulte and mature aspects of the story, but found parts to be completely cliche. It works for the YA aspect, but I kept wanting it to be more. This is the story of Pyrgus, a royal thief, Henry, a boy from England, an interdimensional portal, and their very different worlds. The villain is over the top, and about as cliched as you can get, so I felt that the scenes pertaining to that aspect of the story dragged out. Overall, it was a fun read that sets up a new YA series.
