My whole family LOVE this series. I got book 1 for my 8 year old daughter. I always read any new author/book before I let my kids read them just to make sure it is appropriate, and right away I knew both of my daughters would like it. My oldest daughter is 13 and also liked the first and second book in the series. Of coarse part of the appeal is being able to go online and do missions on the 39 clues website.

The two main characters in the book are Dan and Amy Cahill, they are both involved in a kind of a treasure hunt to find the 39 clues that will lead them to find out more about their family's history and of coarse it leads them to adventure and danger as they go up against their own distantly related relatives in a race to who can get to the treasure first. Although there are clues and hints that what is at the end of the treasure hunt is not necessarily a monetary reward, but yet something much bigger that if it falls into the wrong hands could be very bad for all humanity. What ever the treasure is it has made the Cahill family rich, powerful, and talented......
