I love Jay Crownover's books. They're always so gritty and full of emotion. This series about The Point definitely has a much rougher feel to it. These books are best if they're read in order.
I completely bought in to Bax's character in book 1, but I wasn't able to feel the same way about Race. He was painted as the smooth, academic one- but I just couldn't believe that he was tough enough to co-run the city's crime syndicate. One minute he was breaking kneecaps, and the next he was pouting and doubting himself.
While the book was entertaining, too many of the characters' issues were solved way too easily. I don't always like for every problem to be tied into a pretty little bow. I hope that the next book in the series will return to the edgier feel of the first book.
