Let me preface this review by saying I collected comic books in high school, I like sci fi ... in short, I'm a self-professed Nerd.

I really wanted to like this book. I didn't, mostly because I didn't realize that it was YA (young adult) fiction, intended for a younger audience.

Having said that, I have read and enjoyed many other YA novels, so at least some of the blame rests on Mr. Sanderson's shoulders. The characters are barely 2-dimensional, the world he created is not believable and the dialogue wasn't the greatest. I made myself finish the book (I don't think it's fair to review it if you don't finish it), but it was a chore, and I won't be reading the sequel. May I suggest you read something by Steven Gould (Jumper, Reflex, Wild Side) or Scott Westerfield instead?
