The sixteenth book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series has Sola Morte is hiding in Miami with her beloved Grandmother. She is constantly on alert for the people who want to get even with her. Assail is currently in a coma at the Brotherhood's hospital. His detox from dugs is going well and Doc Jane fears that he will not pull through. When his cousins learn of his condition, they track down Sola and ask her to come back home. They lie to her about his illness, hoping that she will decide to by his side and give him the will to live.

When Sola and Assail first appeared in the series, I wasn't a big fan of either of them taking up pages that should have gone to the Brotherhood. So, I didn't cry when Sola eventually left New York. With the subsequent books I've grown to like Assail and was happy that he decided to get off the drugs. This time around I enjoyed their story.

Like the other books in the series, there are a multiple storylines in this book. Vishous and Jane have been drifting apart, both too busy with their respective jobs to work on their marriage. I'm always happy to have these two in the story. Vishous is one of my favorite characters and he has met his match with Jane. Another plot thread in this book is Throe, xCor's former second in command, has become a huge threat to the King. He has stolen a book that he has used to conjure Shadows to fight in a war against the Brotherhood. It looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of Throe in upcoming books. My rating: 4 Stars.
