Elizabeth Gail Dobbs had lived in many foster homes, but now at last she belonged-to the Johnson family. Not only did her new family love her, but other friends began coming into her life-like the Johnson's neighbor, Grandma Feuder and her great-grandson, Adam. But something strange was going on at Grandma's house. Why did she always keep a worn teddy bear in a chair by her table? Why wouldn't she let anyone play with it? And what was the matter with Adam? Some days he seemed tolike Libby, but others days he would turn away from her as he did from everyone else. What secret was Adam hiding? Libby found herself right in the middle of the mystery when she was given the responsibility of protecting Teddy from a menacing stranger. Where could she get the courage to face the dangerous man who threatened Grandma Feuder?
