Carl D. (Carlo) reviewed Historical evidence of Jesus's life - different than what we were taught on
Helpful Score: 3
Micheal Baigent is a historian who tells a different story about the life of Jesus based on historical evidence, recovered documents, and the tendencies of the church to carefully control information, particularly religious content and when documenting the accounts of a human once they were deified. Baigent's books were the inspiration of author Dan Brown who wrote fictional works such as: 'The Da vinci Code' and 'Angels and Demons'. Whether you are a devout Christian or not, the great deal of historical information provided in this book will offer new personal insights on the life of Jesus and the governing powers of the time. As a novice, the book seemed at times to jump into waves of historical data that was a little boring and seemingly non-relevant; however most of the time the relevancy of the information was exposed later. I liked the book and feel most of the historical information made much more sense than what I learned growing up. I feel it 'matured' my understanding of the life and times of Jesus and the powers that be. If you enjoy this kind of material, another great book to read is Deepak Chopra's, 'The Third Jesus'.
