There were definitely several interesting things going on in this book! It had a lot of slow sections (in the way that I tend to find all true chick lit slow) but at the same time I always wanted to know what was going to happen. The fact that this was written by someone who experienced some of the first moments of internet fame herself made a lot of difference, I think - it gave the book a little extra edge, and I could see a lot of the plot actually happening. People on the internet can certainly be a little larger than their real lives, in ways just like the ones that come up here.
I wonder how I would have felt about this book if I'd read it when it first came out. It's wild how fast the internet has seeped into our lives. A few years ago I'd never met anyone in real life who I'd first met online, and online dating seemed sketchy at best, but now those things are totally normal. Just when exactly was it that things like the events portrayed in this book started to seem like they could easily happen? I'm not even sure, which is what I meant about the internet moving in at a "fast seep."
And as for the story itself, like I said, slow but I still wanted to know the rest. I liked Anna, liked LDobler and Smith. Actually I wanted to know more about the other characters besides Anna, especially LDobler. The pop culture references were fun too.
