I like O'Kane's other series more--she's also Leslie Caine, by the way. I have a little trouble with the idea of a dog psychologist. Not that it's not believable, but that anyone would really waste their time and money on something like that. A simple dog trainer is enough, I would think.
Be that as it may, the story is pretty good here. O'Kane writes a good mystery and doesn't get carried away--as some dog mystery authors do--with thinking dogs are the most important things in the world.
The Boulder, Colorado, setting is also fun. As a one-time resident of a nearby city who worked for a time in Boulder, I enjoy the scenery in this book.
